Stalagmite Collected from Cleaves Cove by John Smith
In 1894, John Smith realised that there had never been any
research printed on the formation of stalactites and
stalagmites. After having ample opportunities himself for
their study during archaeological explorations of Cleaves Cove near
Dalry, he published a book of monographs on the subject.
This stalagmite is one of the ones which he removed to
study.
