Tailoring Shears

Tailoring shears used by William Partick Houston, a tailor working in Dumfries around 1900.   The frist pair of shears pictured were used for cutting suit cloth. The pair pictured below were used for cutting tweed. It was common practice to bandage the finger holes to protect the fingers when cutting cloth. This pair have been wrapped with tweed fabric, then covered with chamois leather and secured with stitching.
