View of the White Sands, Dumfries.  The Whitesands which is prone to flooding was left as animal grazing until the end of the 18th century, when the present line of buildings was erected.   This sepia photograph is from an album presented to the Kings Arms Hotel by local businesses in Dumfries and Maxwelltown.  The businesses placed advertisements in the album.
