Black sequinned dress, 1920s
The long skirt and the sleeveless dress with black sequins on black net. The bodice and skirt are separated by an 8 cm wide horizontal panel. The sequins are sewn to produce a pattern of stripes, fanwise.
This 1920's dress is a black party dress, worn by the donor's mother on social occasions. The period after the First World War produced new fashions and occasions for wearing them - this Charleston dress was an example of the style which had a straight line to below the waist.
