Art Nouveau imitation tortoiseshell hair clasp
Imitation toirtoiseshell hair clasp with wavy, Art Nouveau
design. The tortoiseshell was mimicked by using celluloid, a
plastic created in the mid-1800s. The material was first widely
used as a replacement for ivory and other animal products, before
becoming more widely used in movie and film industries as film
stock.
