Sanquhar Gloves, Shepherd's Plaid design knitting pattern

Pattern derived from traditional weaving.  Shepherds wore large woollen plaids or shawls as protection against the weather.   This pattern was supplied to the Handicrafts Publication Committee by the Scottish Women's Rural Institutes (Dumfries Federation).  The crowned heart motif of the SWRI is on the front cover.
