Lace bobbin

Wooden bobbin used for making lace. Bobbin lace is a method of making lace that is done by  braiding and twisting lengths of thread. These threads are are wound around bobbins like this to keep the threads neat and managable.    This method of making lace dates back many centuries. The first record of bobbin lace was mentioned in a will by the Milanese Sforza family in 1493
