2d Trade Token for W. B. Gibson Turk's Head Inn, Dumfries

Trade tokens were issued in the 18th and early 19th century by manufacturers, merchants and shopkeepers for the purpose of providing small change. Most of them bear the name of the town in which they were used and the company name or commodity for which they were exchanged for.   This one has been issued by the Landlord of the 'Turk's Head Inn', Dumfries, probably in return for beer or spirits from a local brewer or distiller.
