Maker’s mark: “HINCH / LIFFE” (impressed) Assay marks: tree, lion rampant (Glasgow) Date mark: “D” (1822) Duty mark: head of George IV   Fish slices first appeared on dinner tables in about 1760. The pierced blade allowed the cooking juices to drain.
