Small rectangular wooden trinket box. Features several black transfer prints depicting rural border scenes. Inscriptions read:
(lid) "HOGG'S MONUMENT, ST MARY'S LOCH"
(front of base) "MOFFAT FROM THE SOUTH-WEST / MOFFAT MINERAL WELL"
W & A Smith of Mauchline, Ayrshire developed the manufacture of transfer printed treen, or wooden ware which became highly popular as gifts and souvenirs.
