Wigtown Martyrs commemorative sewing box
Rectangular wooden sewing box. The lid is decorated with a floral pattern and an oval photograph of the Martyrs Monument at Wigtown.
The Monument was erected in 1858 and this is one of the many souvenirs produced at the time. It is a good example of mid Victorian "Mauchline Ware".
