Box Ware
By the advent of the 19th century the name of 'Mauchline', a
town in Ayrshire, had become synomymous with the manufacture of
wooden snuff-boxes. Soon the manufacturers in the town were
producing a full range of small decorative boxes made from
sycamore. Today these boxes are still sought out by collectors
world wide. This section of the site shows a variety of the
different types including fern and tartanware.
