Wooden Mauchline Ware Bookmark Case

This is a typical Mauchline ware souvenir, decorated to be attractive to Victorian visitors to Kirkcudbright, and bearing images of two prominent local landmarks.  The case held a wooden book mark, which is also decorated with a transfer image of St. Mary's Isle. Thin wooden case with monochrome transfer images on either side; with St. Mary's Isle Mansion, Kirkcudbright on one side and the Tongland bridges, near Kirkcudbright on the other side.  Also the inscription 'Made of Wood Which Grew On St Mary's Isle, The Seat Of The Earl Of Selkirk'.
