Mauchline ware needle book covers
This pair of wooden book boards would have been used as the front and back covers of a needle book. Each board has a flat inner surface finished with plain paper lining, while the curved outer surface features black transfer prints; one with illustration and one with an inscription:
"PART OF / THE OLD KIRK - END TREE / OF MAUCHLINE / Blown down by the Storm 27th. Feb 1860. / W & A Smith Mauchline, Manufers"
