Wigtown Burns Club

The Wigtown Burns Club annual outing, on this occasion to Alloway, with the company posing on the bridge immortalised in Tam o' Shanter.  They display a wide range of formal dress.  The transport for Burns Club outings was often horse carriage but on this occasion the party almost certainly travelled by rail, it being then possible to make the entire journey from Wigtown to Alloway by train.  As the club was formed in 1905, this was one of its earliest excursions.  On at least one other occasion the destination was Ravenshall between Creetown and Gatehouse.  The organisation is still in healthy existence.
