Young Girl

Francisco Herrara the Elder was a leading artist working in Seville during the 17th Century. He was also an engraver and a miniaturist. One of his pupils is said to have been the towering figure of Spanish painting, Velazquez and he is believed to have influenced the great painter of the Spanish Baroque, Murillo. This portrait of a young girl may be study for a larger painting.
