Reverend Thomas Dunlop
Painted by J Harrington Mann, the Reverend Thomas Dunlop was
born in Kilmarnock in 1839, and educated for the ministry. His
first charge was in Balfron, where he remained for about 4 years.
After that he was the colleague of Dr. John Peddie, Edinburgh
before settling as pastor of the Congregational Church in
Bootle.
He was responsible for penning several popular hymns but is best
known for his book, "John Tamson's Bairns and Other Poems", which
was published in 1897.
