Lord James Stevenson
This portrait of Lord James Stevenson, Bt. was painted
along with a matching one of his second wife
Stella by artist Solomon Joseph Solomon.
Stevenson was a businessman and civil servant who was born in
Kilmarnock in 1873. He workmed for many years in
Johnnie Walker, eventually working his way up the company to
become joint Managing Director. After the otubreak of WWI,
Stevenson was appointed to the Ministry of Munitions in a senior
role, a service for which he recieved a baronetcy.
