Kirkbrae, Dreghorn

This painting by Kilmarnock-born artist James Blain shows a snowy scene in the Ayrshire town of Dreghorn.    Painting in both watercolours and oils, Blain was known for painting scenes and landscapes around the Ayrshire and Glasgow areas. Exhibiting mostly after WWII, his paintings have been shown at The Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, the Paisley Art Institute, as well as the annual exhibitions at Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture and Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour.
