Kilkerran

Kilkerran in Ayrshire became Alexander Docharty's home and he spent much time painting there.  He had trained at Glasgow School of Art and worked for a time as a calico designer  before taking up painting as a profession. In 1894 he spent time studying in Paris and he made several other visits to Europe to paint throughout his career.  He also spent time painting in the Highlands.
