Haymaking (L'hermite)

Throughout his career Léon AugustinL'Hermite painted rural life around the village where he lived. In earlier works his figures tended to dominate the landscape with heroic poses but here they are simply a part of it. The French-born artist trained in Paris. He remained and worked in his native village but made regular visits to London and his work found its way into many British collections.
