Haymaking (Atkinson Wells)
William Page Atkinson Wells was an artist born in Glasgow in
1872. Wells is known for using small, thickly applied brushstrokes
for his oil paintings.
As a young man, Wells studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in
London. After his studies, mhe moved to Australia for 5 yeaard,
before returning to Europe to work in France. Wells moved around
often, and after his stint in France, he enjoyed a short stay in
Glasgow, before moving on to Preston in Lancashire, and then
Devon.
