Grey Glen Falloch
Urquhart was born in Perthshire and studied at Edinburgh College of Art.
His work concerns the natural world and in particular the landscape of his native Perthshire. He addresses current environmental issues.
In 1995 The Dick Institute held a solo exhibition of his work entititled "Ptarmigan" after the largest work in the show. Urquhart said of the ptarmigan
"The ptarmigan represents all that is wild, beautiful and yet fragile and threatened in the Scottish Landscape. Ptarmigans now carry residual traces of radioactivity from Chernobyl, they are also retreating north and to higher ground with the increasing effects of climatic warming."
