Bullfighter

Born in Fife, John Houston was a Scottish painter and educator. Following studies at the Edinburgh College of Art, he taught at the College for more than 30 years. Before retiring in 1989, he had been the departmental head of painting school and the director of its postgraduate department.    Houston painted in an expressive and semi-abstract style, with his later work becoming more atmospheric in response to influences from Turner and American Abstract Expressism.
