Telescope Sidereal Clock Drive

A mechanism attached to the 6 inch refractor telescope.  It compensates for the Earth's rotation enabling the viewer to focus on one area with the telescope.  It is kept constant by an impulse from an accurate pendulum clock as shown in the photograph.  It was constructed by Robert Waland for use in his own observatory at Dumfries.
