9.25 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain Reflecting Telescope
This modern telescope was added to the collection at Dumfries Museum in 1998. The selection was made under the guidance of Robert Waland whose generosity made the purchase possible.
Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope: 'Ultima', 235mm aperture, focal length of 2350mm, with .25" star diagonal lens, .25" visual back lens and a 6x30 finder attached. Assembled with a DC servo quartz motor drive, metal tripod, heavy duty wedge and a latitude adjuster.
Additional accessories: Solar filter, with a circle of fine silver membrane for looking at the sun, 1.25" eyepiece - orange filter to use with solar filter to give a true colour, 1.25" 2x Barlow Ultima - fully multicoated lens, 32mm eyepiece - multicoated telephoto lens, 17mm eyepiece - multicoated lens, 25mm eyepiece - wide angled lens. Hand controller unit: Vixen Ultima (8x56, 6.1 degree field, 107 M at 1000 M). Pair of binoculars.
