Crucifix

Cross made from bullet casings. In the centre is a circular embossed plaque recycled from a First World War German army belt buckle, and a figure depicting Christ.   These crucifixes were made from the detritus of war - two different sized bullet casings and a German army belt buckle. Many relatives visiting the battlefields of France during the 1920s purchased items like this as a memento of lost loved ones.
