Stone Cross (1)

This stone cross is one of a collection that came from a medieval church that once stood in the graveyard at Kirkton, now part of Millport, Greater Cumbrae. The style is unique to the Cumbraes and the nearby isles of Bute and Arran. On this one there are knots under the lower armpits of the cross and in the upper area, faint outlines of birds, possibly doves.
