Lead pilgrim badge or token (1)

Pilgrim badges were pinned or stitched to a pilgrim's clothing and were worn as souvenirs of a visit to a popular shrine.  St Ninian's shrine at Whithorn was one of the most popular pilgrim destinations in Medieval Scotland.  This badge was probably lost by a visitor to the shrine.   A fragmentary pilgrim token with two bearded and halved figures.  The figure on the right holding a cross-headed staff and with a key resting on his shoulder is Saint Peter.  The other figure is probably St Paul.
