Grave marker (3)

This stone has its origins in a small community founded by Irish clergy on Ardwall Island in about 550 AD. By the 8th century it had both Irish and Northumbrian members, and so the name Cuthgar, meaning "Fortunate Spear", is inscribed in both languages.
