Carved stone head, Tongland Abbey

Tongland Abbey was a Praemonstratensian monastery establisehd in the early 13th century by Alan, Lord of Galloway.  There is very little evidence on the site today which is occupied by the former Tongland Parish Church and its churchyard.   Carved sandstone head, probably from an architectural feature on the external walls of one of the Tongland Abbey buildings.
