Crucible and fragment
Two crucibles, one of which is broken, from a metalworker's
workshop. these would have been used for melting metals ready for
casting.
Energy Dispersive X-Ray Flourescence (EDXRF) analysis of the
interior of the broken piece showed that it had been used for
melting bronze. This was found in an area of precious
metalworking debris, probably a workshop, and dates to around
700AD.
