Copper alloy handle
Cylindrical handle with concave sides and a slightly domed but
end. Three incised lines are cut round its middle. there is a
single iron rivet at the lower end, and traces of wood and bark
survive in the interior. It is probably a knop, or handle, from the
end of a rod or cane. It dates from the 6th to early 8th
century.
The alloy is unusual, a tin-plated speculum, giving a
silvery-grey sheen to the surface.
