Bronze ring-pin
Bronze ring-pin, lacking ring. The head is cubic in shape, with
facetted corners. A saltire cross has been cut on each of the
unperforated faces of the head. This piece probably dates to the
7th century AD.
Ringed pins were usually used to fasten cloaks, or occasionally
wrap-around jackets. A cord tied to the ring was wrapped round the
shank after it had been pushed through the cloth, to secure it in
place.
