Seven volumes of proofs of plays by J M Barrie

Publishers proof copies of plays written by Sir J M Barrie, Volumes 1-7.  Corrected and annotated by J M Barrie in his own handwriting.  They include the first printed version of the play "Peter Pan".   Volumes 1-7: The Plays; Dear Brutus; What Every Woman Knows; The Old Lady Shows Her Medals, Alice-Sit-By-The-Fire; A Kiss for Cinderella and Half Hours.  (5 of 7 pictured)   Barrie had a particularly warm relationship with his publisher, as it was Sir William Robertson Nichol of Hodder and Stoughton who had discovered him and nurtured his talent.  Nichol had spotted the young Scottish journalist just arrived in London and persuaded him to write for the "British Weekly" as "Gavin Ogilvie".  The company published his first book, "Auld Licht Idylls" in 1888.
