Sketch of Alexander Flemingfrom Dr John B. Simpson's Medical Sketchbook (2)

This sketch of Alexander Fleming was drawn by Ayrshire GP Dr John Simpson in 1944. It was found in a sketch book containing sketches and newspaper cuttings of a number of Dr. Simpson's medical contemporaries.  Also included are several loose handwritten sheets and one of them is entitled "Remembrance of 'The Vic'", (the Victoria Infirmary). Dr John B. Simpson was a general practitioner in Newmilns, Ayrshire, from 1928 until his retirement in 1968. The son of an Ayrshire minister, he studied medicine at Glasgow University and graduated in 1928.
