Cuirass and Thigh Defenders
Made of steel the breastplate of this armour has a battle scene etched across the top, on the right side a Crucifix and a kneeling knight on the left. It also has a deep dent near the centre probably caused by a musket-ball. The absence of any lance rest on the breastplate indicates that this armour was intended for use by an infantry commander.
Although this armour is German, it is quite typical for the time and may have been similar to that worn by Supporters of Mary Queen of Scots and their opponents at the Battle of Langside.
