Cinquedea
This kind of highly decorated sword was carried with civilian
dress and was known as a cinquedea. They were popularly
carried by noblemen in the Italian city states around the 16th
century. Cinquedea means 'five fingers', so called due to the broad
shape of the blade next to the crossguard. The typical
characteristics of a cinquedea is its a small pommel, dropping
crossguard, and multiple fullers along its blade to lighten its
weight.
