Boxed set of scales, County of Dumfries, c1949

Set of fine weighing scales, half ounce balance. The scales are enclosed within a purpose made box which opens out to form three vertical sections. Clips hold all the fittings (wedges, pans, tools) in place. There is also a spirit level in the base. The set is numbered "4739" and verification stamps are present on the main plaque. This set has a leather carrying case.   Engraving on inside of box: 'COUNTY OF DUMFRIES & BURGHS / DE GRAVE SHORT & Co Ltd / MAKERS LONDON / 4739 / TO WEIGH 1/2 oz'
