Wooden shuttle from a loom

In textile manufacture, a shuttle is a specialist tool designed to store the thread of weft yarn neatly. These shuttles carrying the weft yarn then move across the loom and the weft yarns (horizontal yarns) become beaten with the warp yarns (vertical yarns) to form the fabric.
