Pavement Tile (2)
Pavement tile made by James Brodie, who took over the 'top works' in 1889 from George Clennell, the first brick manufacturer in Sanquhar. Black coloured bricks and tiles were made from blue clay which contained iron oxide and was found in coal measures.
