Wooden Ard
Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire
Part of the earliest form of plough found at Glenfield works,
Kilmarnock, embedded in sandy grit of river drift, 5ft 4in below
surface level and 191 yards from the present river bed. It is
believed to be one of only three ards of this type and antiquity
which survive in Scotland.
The 2nd photograph shows the site where the ard was
discovered.
