Agriculture
Food and clothing are two of the necessities of life. The search
for these essentials was the main concern of the early
hunter-gatherers, and remains that of today's farmers. The
development of agriculture in the south-west of Scotland has
changed the lives of the rural population over the years from that
of serfdom to one of farming excellence. The exploitation of the
land and successive changes in agricultural practices has proved a
success in the region with dairy products, cattle and potatoes from
the area becoming famous nationwide.
