Medical staff and dog

The Dick Institute in Kilmarnock was used as a hospital for wounded soldiers during the First World War. In this photo, medical staff pet the hospital dog. Much like therapy dogs today, animals on wards helped to boost morale and provide comfort to both staff and patients
