David Gray
David Gray, known working dates 1778 to 1841. David Grey
was a prolific Dumfries silversmith. He began trading in 1814 from
a shop in the High Street, later moving to Church Place, then
Castle Street, and then back to the High Street. He also occupied a
dwelling house on the west side of the High Street. In 1839 he
became the Burgh Tackman, in charge of the weighbridge in
Queensberry Square. He died in 1841, aged 63.
