White china saucer with Stewarton Coat of Arms
This white china saucer is decorated with
the Stewarton coat of arms (adopted fro the Cunninghame
family's forked arms) and motto 'Over Fork Over', as well as a
bonnet, for which the town is famed for making.
Stewarton became linked with the Cunninghame family after
Lainshaw House was purchased by William Cunninghame in 1779, where
it remained in the family until 1947, when it was purcased by the
local authority and turned in a care home for the elderly.
