Blind Spot

Jessica Harrison created a floating installation made from dozens of winged eyeballs swarming above the heads of visitors to the gallery.   This installation quotes some of the religious art she saw in Florence on a recent scholarship trip there, as well as the massive tourism industry which surroundsit.   She questions whether the tourist's visitor 'experience' is more important than the actual historical object: The object in this installation is invisible, overpowered by the desire for experience. The crowd itself has become the divine relic.
