The Stepping Stones, Cumloden

Milne's stereoscopic views include a number taken at Cumloden near Newton Stewart.  It was either one of Milne's favourite spots or else he had a patron at Cumloden House keen to acquire his photographs.   The girl balancing on the stepping stones has kept a rigid pose despit the shot's long exposure.
