Goldfish Bowl
Robert Gemmell Hutchison was a Scottish artist whose style
belongs to the school of British Impressionism. Hutchison was known
for his landscapes, particulary seascapes and maritime scenes.
After first training as a seal-engraver, Hutchison was encouraged
to take his art more seriously and trained under Scottish painter
James Campbell Noble.
Following his studies, he set up his own studio and very quickly
became acclaimed as an artist, exhibiting at the Royal Scottish
Academy in 1879 and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in London in
1881 and becoming elected into many prestigious academies such
as The Royal Society of British Artists, The Royal
Institute of Oil Painters, The Royal Society of Painters in
Watercolour and The Royal Scottish Academy.
