Nithsdale II

James Macaulay studied at the Glasgow School of Art graduating in 1961. He studied teacher training in 1962 at Jordanhill College and began a long and successful career in Education, which culminated in his time as Art Advisor to Dumfries & Galloway Education Department. Viewers of the exhibition purchased Nithsdale II from the Open selected exhibition Art Now in 1996 chosen by popular vote.   Jim took early retirement in 1995 to concentrate on his painting full-time and has exhibited work widely throughout the UK. Over 50 of his paintings and drawings dating from 1960 to the present day were shown in a major retrospective at Gracefield in May/June 2005.
